Craig and Debbie Food Tour

Craig and Debbie Food Tour

Meet at the Museum of Modern Art (MAMBA), Av. San Juan 350 at 6pm. The museum has just opened a new cafe that is a collaboration with local roaster Zavalia. Charlie Zavalia is the owner and head roaster and is going to take care of us personally. We will do a quick tasting with Brazilian and Honduran beans. The roaster is at their flagship coffee shop but we will still be able to try a roast by Zavalia and his team and talk about the pretty recent evolution of coffee in Buenos Aires that strays from the traditional cafe culture of sitting for hours on the same *very burnt* coffee.

From there we are going to do a sampling of traditional Argentine dishes. I want us to try two different styles of empanadas, a regional Riojana style empanada and a very untraditional spicy lamb empanada at two wildly different restaurants. Then we will pop over to a hole in the wall pizza shop, which has a big cult following in the city, to try Argentina's ubiquitous thick crusted pan pizzas.

We will then head a few neighborhoods over to try different dishes at a family run bodegon that mixes Italian and Spanish dishes. This is the most typical food eaten in Buenos Aires and often the cuisine that travelers miss out on. This will be a sit down with a few dishes and wine. Then we will make our way back towards your hotel with a stop for ice cream.

Tour includes: 3.5-4hr private, customized tour. transport during tour (taxi, uber). all food and drink consumed + private coffee tasting.
